Success for Sam, and her husband Neil

It is rare that we get married couples attempting the advanced driving test together, but Sam and Neil King managed to pass within a few weeks of each other, both with the same examiner. Sam, a learning specialist and organisational psychologist, said afterwards “I think it’s good for couples to do it together so you ‘change the system’ around you – you both have the same concepts, mindset and practices – that way it will work better and become more sustained (and hopefully less marital friction!)”.

Sam drove a Tesla, an increasingly popular and quick electrically powered vehicle, and had, in part, to learn a new way of driving. She has ADHD, so the detailed and patient instruction provided by her Observer, Gordon Farquharson, helped her to gain the new skills required and learn more about her car. Neil used their other family car, a manual petrol saloon, but was no less successful on his test earlier in the year, and both managed to impress their examiner on the day.

Sam concluded by adding “I want to help others as there are some things that have particularly helped me, and Gordon has been incredibly perceptive and supportive.” So our aim at GAM is to encourage partners and parents of our current Associates to demonstrate their advanced driving skills also – everyone can learn something.

Well done Sam and Neil – congratulations to you both from GAM.
